Pink Truth: Mary Kay consultant numbers are down, this IS significant

Pink Truth, in their ongoing attempt to prove that Mary Kay is no good, points to an apparent decrease in U.S. Consultant numbers as just the kind of evidence they are looking for

What do all of you say? 700K to 600K seems like a considerable number. Is this evidence of "downsizing" or something more dramatic?

In other, lighter notes, Steelers won the Superbowl and I should be back on a regular schedule with the posting. Thanks for your patience.

  1. Credit cards are lowering credit lines but increasing minimum payments. Happened to me, and my credit is perfect and I'm always on time. People are broke (and often unemployed) and I don't think some of them can even afford the show case much less any inventory. Also people are moonlighting if they possibly can and have no spare time for anything. Makes sense to me how they might put extracurricular activities on hold for better times.

  3. At Leadership it was announced that we had a 5% Growth over the previous year in retail sales. Considering the economy last year, I think that is pretty impressive overall. So the # of consultants went down, perhaps the decrease was because those not wanting to do facial/classes and just wanted to get money easy were the ones that left. This just leaves more clients for the remaining consulltants. I think that there are many loyal MK clients and just because their consultant quits doesn't mean they are going to stop using MK, they will find another consultant. The advantage for us that have been around awhile, I have ended up with alot of great clients because their consultant quit. Sometimes, it just pays to stick around!
