Weasel words - Part Two (or, "You should be like me")

Part One dealt with the nature of legalese (called "weasel words" on PT).

This post will deal with the nature of the words in question. Please note that these are numbers from MK in Canada, not the US.

I am not going to copy and paste here. If you want to read the whole post, go here.

The entire tone of the post strikes me as being....judgemental. Not just against MKC, but of the reps themselves.

We have no way of knowing what the goals of those reps are. We don't know how many hours they worked. We don't know anything about these reps.

When I see phrases like

  • "We don't know how much less, but I'll bet that for most of them, it was a lot less."

  • "That means that 29,429 have not earned any commission, just their sales, we'll ignore that for now."

  • "By my estimate, anybody who earns less than $6,000 commissions per month is not making an executive salary."

...it drives me crazy.

How do you know? How do you know how much money people made from selling products?

Who made you the judge of what is executive salary and what isn't?

How do you know what the goals of these reps were? Perhaps they made exactly what they wanted to make. Perhaps not. Your idea of success might not be the same as theirs.

To give another perspective:

When I was a Seventh-Day Adventist, I had someone come up to me and tell me what I believed and why it was wrong.

The problem is, he did not have any of his facts right, and he made himself look like an idiot because he pronounced judgement without taking the time to find out what my beliefs actually were!

I feel the same way about PT.

To sit and pass judgement on the success or failure of others without first finding out what the goals were in the first place seems just as foolish to me.

And that, of course, is just my opinion. :D

  1. Warning! **snarkly** comment follows: I know PT tells me noone can make $$ in MK but after finishing our taxes, it is clear to me I better up the estimated quarterly taxes I pay, or tax will not look so nice next year! I paid my estimated quarterlies but we did better than my estimates and I truely don't want to be paying IRS at tax time next year!!

Sorry to report to all the PT'er no loss to report here, I made even mo' money than last year.

My weasel words. ... you can earn good money, doing something you love with the flexibility you need if you do it right. Love it!!

  5. Way to go Colleen, good to see you around again!

(Warning snarky comment follows) What! You mean you didn't stalk people? You simply gave them an avenue to express an interest in what you were offering and then you called them and offered them a facial and they said "yes". No way.... can't be, you must be lying, the market is saturated, the products are dated, noone wants MK, you have to stalk them and lie to them! hahahahahahhahaha

    Great job!!

  7. Well Ladies, I'm actually quite honored that my little article warranted such opposition.

Please note that these numbers are published by MKC, and are easily verifieable, hence the very specific Applause issue & page number. You are right, I don’t decide what executive income is, we each make that judgment for ourselves. You pick a number,
whatever you think a team leader or shift manager at Ford or (insert corporation name here) is making. Now multiply by the applicable tax rate. Now tell me does your net taxable income (Line 236 in Canada) equal the number you had for the guy with the
J.O.B.? If not, you failed to make an executive income /by your own standards./

I wish you all the best, and eventually, we'll see you @ PT.
