Happy sleeping-with-a-tummy-full-of-turkey-night! I suppose you're all asleep while I'm writing this ;)
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving is not celebrated in Sweden, which makes sense from a historical and geographical point of view. My family usually celebrates Thanksgiving, due to the fact that my husband is from the US (migrated to Sweden almost 8 years ago). It's a wonderful holiday that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of religious views. Who doesn't need good food, time with family and friends, a break from the dreary November weather and, last but not least, some time to focus on how much we have to be grateful for? I wish Thanksgiving would spread all over the world!
This year, however, we didn't get a chance to celebrate, since my husband had to work and I had to prepare the house for three guests from Utah coming in today and one guest from Yorkshire, England coming in tomorrow. But with so many wonderful guests and my husbands amazing cooking (he's a chef, lucky me), I will be giving many thanks this weekend anyway!
Now, eat a turkey breakfast sandwich for me, ok? ;)
Matilda,
ReplyDeleteMmmmm.... (the following is being said between bites of a delicious turkey breakfast sandwich!)
I couldn't have said it better myself, "Who doesn't need good food, time with family and friends, a break from the dreary November weather and, last but not least, some time to focus on how much we have to be grateful for?"!!
I am sorry to hear that you were unable to celebrate this year, but it sounds like you will be doing some serious celebrating with all those house guests on their way!
Lucky you indeed! Your husband is a Swedish Chef! Or at least a US chef living in Sweden!
Have a fabulous weekend, and thanks for taking part in our community!
