Isn't the thing that makes Mary Kay evil the whole "buy this much and get this"?
Kind of makes you think!

I did not see this ad on PT. And it is kind of small on this site. But isn't it $25? MK sends you free stuff after you spend hundreds. Not quite the same thing. And a pretty cheap shot, if you ask me. I know this is your site, but can we not stoop to PT's level?
ReplyDeleteActually, PT also has complained because we can offer the PCP gift for spending $40 when ordering from your consultant so I see this as an equal comparison. Once again, it is the principal not the amounts. It is an incentive to do something. It doesn't make you do it. I don't feel this is "stooping to their level". I see it has pointing out the hypocrosy (sp?) of yet another one of their statements.
ReplyDeleteI understand what Judi means though mk4me...but at the same time I see what you mean becuase I think David is trying to point out the hypocrisy as you said.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've read on PT - and I have not read it all - the PCP problem is because Corp advertises it and what if the consultant doesn't want to do that offer? What if the consultant can't afford to offer it? Then she looks pretty cheesy since it's advertised.
ReplyDeleteI still feel this was a cheap shot. I thought this site was above all that. I don't want to see this site become to PT what PT is to MK.

Hi Judi,
ReplyDeleteIf a consultant does not want to offer the Preferred Customer Gift with purchase, she does not have to. When you set up your MK Personal Website gives you the option to offer the gift or not and the regular Look Books that you order do not show the gift. So, a consultant does not have to offer it if they do not want to. Only about 1/4 of my unit participate on regular basis.
As to not being able to afford it, keep in mind that it is only with a $40 purchase, so it is basically 10% of the retail or less. It actually helps me to increase sales, because women will order more to get up to $40 for their gift.
Here is what I have found interesting on PT. I have seen ads for "Mary Kay" pop up on there! Now, to me, that is hypocrisy if you accept money off of those ads, but claim to be totally against MK.
There was a time you could choose your catalogues from PCP to show the gift or not. I am about 95% sure I read the reason the Company went to all the gift w. purchase catalogs were because almost all who used PCP did opt to use the gift with purchase offer.
ReplyDeleteNow if they truly choose not to promote that, they don't have to, you can order LOOK BOOKS from Section 11 and they don't feature the gift with purchase and then to save more money, the consultant could deliver them instead of mailing themm and they will be saving even more.
I agree that PT is hypocritical with the ads.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!!
ReplyDeleteWhen did this site become a PT bashing site? I was under the impression it was to get a balanced view of MK. I know sometimes I play Devil's Advocate, but the reason I started coming here is to see both sides. I realize I got the EXTREME negative side and there are those that have ONLY had positive experiences. It was nice hearing both sides of MK, not how much everyone hates TC or PT.
ReplyDeleteHey, David, I have a request on a poll I would like to see. What about one that says how much $$ we make per month (on average). That's after expenses, not taxes, but the expenses that go along with running this particular business. I think that would help those who have never done MK. I think alot of people join MK to make extra money. This way they could see what others are actually keeping.
